Dr. David Pfefferlé is a postdoctoral research associate at the Theory Department of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. He received his PhD in plasma physics in 2014 from the Swiss Institute of Technology (EPFL), investigating the dynamics of energetic particles in 3D saturated MHD configurations.

The main outcome of his thesis work is the VENUS-LEVIS orbit following code, which is used alongside the VMEC equilibrium code to model NBI and ICRH in tokamaks and stellarators within the SCENIC package. His research at PPPL is devoted to the mitigation and avoidance of disruptions in tokamaks, with a special focus on vertical displacement events (VDE), resistive wall modes (RWM), wall touching kink modes, currents in the halo region and conducting wall, the induced forces in the wall, etc.
