Jai obtained his undergraduate degree from the Engineering Science Program at the University of Toronto, and did his graduate studies at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies and was awarded his PhD in 2007. Subsequently he worked for an aerospace consulting firm, Combustion Research and Flow Technology. He joined the the CPPG group as a computational physicist in September of 2016.

His doctoral research involved algorithm development for high-fidelity computational fluid dynamic simulations of aero-propulsive flows. His work there was funded by DOE, DOD, NASA, and JAXA.
