Hongxuan Zhu, 朱鸿轩, entered the Ph. D. program in 2015. He obtained a B.S. in Physics from Peking University. His undergraduate thesis studied the geometric phase of charged-particle gyro-motion with Dr. Hong Qin.

His doctoral thesis project is supervised by Dr. Ilya Dodin and focuses on the drift wave-zonal flow interactions. Some recent work reported the importance of the “full wave” effects of zonal flows behind these interactions. The ultimate goal is to make contributions to the understanding of the turbulent transport in magnetic fusion devices.

After work, he also plays ping pong regularly (see here if interested).
